New BBQ Joint – Dawg Gone Good BBQ – Athens, Georgia

It seems like there are new BBQ joints cropping up all over the country at a clip of one or two a week. Thanks to Online Athens for pointing out a new joint opening this week in downtown Athens, Georgia, called Dawg Gone Good BBQ.

Per the article owner B. J. Hardy “plans to barbecue pork ribs, chicken, pork butts (for pulled pork) and sausages as his meats, all which will be finished out on a charcoal cooker in a shed he built next to the small shop his business will occupy.” One thing that’s a first (for me at least) is that Hardy is converting his salon into a BBQ joint. Wonder how often that happens.

  2. There is a new place in Clonakilty, Co. Cork Ireland called Mike’s BBQ, which would make you think you were back in the U.S. Barbecue Belt…..if you head to the Emerald Isle check it out!

  3. I would say it has become my favorite BBQ place in Athens. They have feet Mac and cheese but what really makes yen standout from other places is that their BBQ is actually moist and delicious. I have been searching for a great BBQ place in Athens and this is defiantly it.

  4. I agree with JoeSchmo. It quickly became my favorite BBQ place, after my first visit there! I talked to the owner and what I presumed was his wife, though who knows. They were extremely nice.

    I got a healthy sized pulled pork sandwich, 2 large portions of sides, and as much sweet tea as I wanted for 6.99! It was a lunch or student special, can’t remember which. Everything was amazing, moist and tender pork and awesome sides.

    Obviously I highly recommend this place!
