The good folks at Black’s Barbecue in Lockhart, Texas have teamed up with Kevin’s BBQ Joints to give away an incredible package. One random winner will receive the following from Black’s Barbecue:

- 1 Whole Brisket (4-5 lbs.)
- 1 bottle of Norma Jean Black’s Barbecue Sauce (14.5 oz)
- 1 bottle of Black’s Barbecue Pepper Sauce
- 1 bottle of Black’s Barbecue Chipotle Mustard Pepper Sauce

  3. Love Ribs, pulled pork, bbq chicken and brisket but down here in miami we do not have a lot of brisket, i have seen the bbq out of lockheart and it looks amazing, dry rub, wet, love it all

  4. My favorite kind of BBq is pulled pork with a mustard and sweet sauce mixed together.Since i moved to carolina they realy don’t have the sweet sauce i was use to in fla so I am getting use to the vinegar base they use but still love my sweet,

  6. It’s been forever since I’ve been in Lockhart! I really could go for some Texas que. The closest thing I have down here in Florida is 4Rivers Smokehouse in Winter Park!

My wife and i were heading to Cali from Florida for our honeymoon. it had been 3 or 4 days of roadfood when we saw the sign on the highway for Blacks BBQ. i love barbecue and i remember my friends telling me how good Texas barbecue is. it was after closing so we shacked up in a Lockheart hotel over night and went to Blacks the next day. my friends were not mistaken. it was the best barbecue i had ever eaten. oddly enough that didnt surprise me. what i found amazing was the kind staff. helpful people, great atmosphere even Edgar Black was there checking on his customers, making sure everything was good. he even took the time to sit down and tell the story hes probably told a million times :) how Blacks came to be, with the folks in the booth next to ours. ever since the wife and I have been drooling over thought of making that trip back to lockheart …she keeps tellin me “take me back to Blacks”. except no imitations.

  12. I love BBQ but have yet to go to the various meccas across this great land. My girlfriend however last year mail ordered brisket and hot links from Blacks and it was suuuubbbbllliiiimmmeee. We agreed it was by far the best brisket we ever had.

  17. I love Black’s brisket. Last year we drove around Texas on a foodie vacation and found Black’s to be the very best. During the tour, we learned the combination of the brisket itself, the post oak, and the loooonnggg, low sit in the pit that make the difference. Of course the warmth of the Black family add a lot to the mix. Now we have it delivered when we need a Black’s fix.

  19. My favorite BBQ is some smoked brisket a friend of mine from Houston brought to the Milwaukee Brewers’ opening day home game last year. He had smoked it overnight and it was absolutely perfect. I swear I ate 2 pounds, minimum. I’ve never been to Texas but I plan to someday just to sample the barbecue joints.

  21. i was raised in lytton springs! i can remember going there every week with my nanny! after my mom and dad passed away! i go visit them and the only other stop i make is blacks! and i eat there and bring a box of cooked sauage back with a box of crackers! if it last that long back to sa tx! i just love this place!

  22. My favorite type of BBQ is Texas BBQ. Texas BBQ means a mesquite fire, slow smoked brisket seasoned with kosher salt and fresh cracked black pepper, fresh Texas beer (Shiner, Real Ale, or St. Arnolds preferably), and fresh ground sausage from your local meat market. If fresh ground sausage is unavailable, Opa’s sausage will work just fine. Last, but not least, Texas BBQ means plenty of good people to share your good food with. No Texas BBQ is complete without family and friends.

    Second choice might be the SE Missouri and NE Arkansas style of chopped pork, like they serve at The Dixie Pig in Blytheville AR. Has the vinegary “slosh” instead of tomato-based sauce.

  55. Would love to share Black’s BBQ with the rest of the office. I am certifiably addicted to Blacks. First I mail ordered some in, shared some with the Deck Structural Engr , then I convinced the entire family to spend Spring break driving down to visit in person, we brought home a bunch, I had it for Bkst, Lunch and Dinner for two days straight . Now IM depressed because I have run out . This is the Good stuff y’all. Oh I gotta say, Ken met us at the front and introduced himself, real friendly folks…the entire crew there were terribly friendly – there wasnt one sour puss in the joint. I smacked thier Bumper Sticker on the back of my ofc door, when I get stressed and shut the door, I now grin because its starin’ back at me. Ahhh YEAH..TAKE ME BACK TO BLACKS please.

  58. Saw Blacks featured on the food network, and I have to say, it looks great. I’ve been into smoking meat for some time now, and can really appreciate the finest BBQ. If the meat is good, it doesn’t need sauce, don’t need to cover it, taste the real goodness and the love. Blacks is now on my Bucket List of places to go and eat BBQ. I’m a New Yorker and I’ve been to Texas, had the BBQ and it was by far the best I’ve had. I’ve lived in N Carolina, and the BBQ doesn’t compare to Texas. God Bless and keep up the Great food and the Love, that’s what really matters in life !

    And the kicker is, I LOVE Black’s. Of all the BBQ joints in Lockhart, I think Black’s is the best. They use Angus beef and it shows in their brisket. They have the best selection of sides, IMHO. I’ll admit I’m not a huge fan of their link sausage, but that’s fine.. their brisket is king!

    In fact, I bought some of their sauces some months back and they are awesome.

    Yes yes, I love Blacks’. So winning would be great! But if I don’t, I’ll still go to Black’s because they rule! :-)
