This barbecue was, hand's down, the best we have ever had. (And both my wife and I have lived in the South - we know good barbecue when we taste it!). We were able to get the last pound of "burnt ends" that was available. I have never had such good barbecued meet. It was sweet, tender, and delightfully hickory smoked. My wife had the smoked chicken breast, and it was also perfectly cooked and delightfully, but lightly, smokey. Chicken is hard to smoke well. This was just great. The fried green tomatoes were the best we have ever had, and the mild chipotle sauce was a perfect complement to them. We also had the sweet potato fries as a side - they were perfectly cooked, crunchy, and tasty. (A little honey would augment the flavor). Likewise, the vinegar based coleslaw was just perfect in every way. We thought that the collard greens were cooked too much, but that's probably our eccentricity when it comes to greens. The barbecued beans were simply amazing. I would go back just for those. The smoke taste coupled with the sweetness of the beans is magnificent on the palate. My wife enjoyed her sweet tea, and I enjoyed my bourbon-lemonade drink. The service was great, and the atmosphere was "perfectly barbecue". I was also treated to a tour of the kitchen. I am envious of those smokers.
Out of a five star rating, I give this place six!!!

i just walked into rub for a paper take out menu. no menus yet. it is very dark and dreary in there. i live 3 houses away and i have seen restaurants come and go like the wind. i worked at arthur ave for 5 years. unfortunetly they closed because of the passing of vinny and john. i hope you make it there. as long as your prices are right and your food is good and your help is exceptional. i wish you all the luck in the world.
