I have to say that I have been eating at City Market BBQ since I was 3 or 4 years old...not to give away my age...but that would mean I started enjoying their BBQ in the very early 70's. Nothing has changed...not even the main guys who work in the smoke room. I have tried other BBQ joints who claim to have good BBQ, but to me, City Market set the bar pretty high and I always find myself comparing the others to them. Let's just say, the only one who comes close to City Market in quality and taste, in my opinion, would be Smitty's BBQ in Lockhart, TX. I guess I am spoiled to the moist, delicious, melt-in-your-mouth brisket that City Market has to offer. It's so good that it needs no sauce! Their ribs are equally as good and their sausage is da bomb! And let's not forget their tangy, mustard based sauce that is such a compliment to their meat, if you so choose to use it. I personally love the sauce on my sausage. Hey, just a FYI...when ordering the sausage, ask for the dry. It's alot less grease and mess! Well I guess I'll step down off of my "soap box" now and head over to Luling...all this BBQ talk has made me hungry!
Oh...one more thing! When you go to City Market...bring some cash, they don't take checks or credit cards. Also, if you go during the weekend, you might want to get there a little early...the line can be out the door. Also, they close at 6:00 PM and they are not open on Sundays. Y'all have an awesome day!
