BBQ Joint Closures Nationwide – The Economic Reality of COVID19

I was on the fence about posting this. With all of the negative news around every corner, I have been trying to stay on the brighter side of things. I’ve been collecting the nationwide BBQ joint closures since this COVID19 spread across the U.S. and feel that possibly this list can provide a glimpse at the magnitude of this crisis for BBQ joints and restaurants in general. Below are restaurants that are both closed for now and ones that are closed for good. I will update this list with additional information as it comes available. ALSO, I have listed ways to assist the restaurant and it’s employees where applicable.

  • 17th St. BBQ – Murphysboro, IL – CLOSED – hoping to reopen in a month or two if possible. Their online store is still active for their BBQ and merch. You can order HERE
  • Banger’s Sausage House & Beer Garden – Austin, TX – CLOSED for now. They are ‘working on some badass to-go and delivery options’. Online store with merchandise and swag still open HERE. They posted an update on April 2nd HERE.
  • Buxton Hall Barbecue – Asheville, NC – CLOSED as of April 1st with hopes to return. Purchase gift cards HERE.
  • Feges BBQ – Houston, TX – Greenway Plaza location CLOSED – Place your pre-order for their Saturday pop-ups at the Spring Brand location on our website HERE. Online pre-orders only. Gift certificates available only too.
  • Fox Bros. Bar-B-Que – Atlanta, GA – CLOSED for the time being. They have a skeleton crew to help them continue to serve to-go and delivery thru DoorDash HERE and have a sweepstakes going on HERE to assist the employees they had to let go.
  • Goldee’s Barbecue – Fort Worth, TX – No Longer CLOSED – Starting Saturday April 11th – Saturdays only for the time being offering a limited preorder-only menu including chilled all natural prime briskets for $120, duroc pork ribs for $50, $45 turkey breasts and sausages by the link for $4.50. Sides a la carte (potato salad, coleslaw, and beans), banana pudding, and meat orders come with the typical accoutrements: homemade bread, pickles and white onions.   • Gus’s’ BBQCLOSED the Porter Ranch and Claremont locations. South Pasadena location still open with take-out, curbside and delivery with PostMates HERE.
  • Hard Eight BBQ – All Texas locations CLOSED until further notice. Some merch still available online HERE
  • Hay’s Co. BBQ – San Marcos, TX – CLOSED until at least April 6th
  • Hometeam BBQ – All locations CLOSED until further notice. They set up fund HERE to assist employees and you can still buy merch and gift cards online HERE.
  • Jay’s BBQ Shack – Abilene, TX – CLOSED for the foreseeable future.
  • JNL Barbecue – Austin, TX – CLOSED for now. Looking for a new location.
  • Kat’s BBQ – Santa Fe, TX – CLOSED for the foreseeable future.
  • Kerlin – Austin, TX – CLOSED – They’ve set up a gofundme page for their employees HERE
  • Liberty Barbecue – Round Rock, TX – CLOSED until further notice.
  • Little Miss BBQ – Phoenix, AZ – Both locations CLOSED until further notice.
  • Owlbear Barbecue – Denver, CO – Currently CLOSED for the next couple weeks to assess the situation. Will update when there is news.

  • Plowboys Barbeque – Missouri – All locations CLOSED however they have partnered with Operation BBQ Relief to open their Overland Park location to serve 1,500 free meals a day. This has already happened.
  • Rosedale Bar-B-Q – Kansas City, KS – CLOSED for the foreseeable future.
  • Snow’s Barbecue – Lexington, TX – CLOSED for the foreseeable future. You can still order BBQ shipped to your door HERE
  • Stanley’s Famous Pit Barbecue – Tyler, TX – CLOSED until at least April 6th. Details coming.
  • Taco Bronco – Austin, TX – CLOSED until further notice.
  • Triple J’s Smokehouse – Houston, TX – CLOSED for the foreseeable future.
  • True Texas BBQ(at H.E.B.’s) – All locations CLOSED so the employees can assist on the grocery side.
  • Truth Barbeque – Brehnam location CLOSED – Houston location open Tuesday – Sunday 11AM – 5PM for to-go only.
  • Ugly Drum – CLOSED – You can still order Whole Pit Smoked Pastrami or Swiss Stack “Reuben” Sandwich Kit on Goldbelly to be shipped anywhere in the nation HERE
  • Valentina’s Tex Mex BBQ – Austin – NEW – CLOSED MONDAY & TUESDAY(Open 7:30 – 8PM Wednesday – Sunday)
  • ZZQ Texas Craft Barbecue – Richmond, VA – CLOSED for the foreseeable future(last day Friday April 3rd)
